Jean (Babe) London
28 August 1901 - 29 November 1980
Jean "Babe" London (Ruth Glover) was an American motion-picture actress and comedian, she began her screen career as a teenager, performing opposite Charlie Chaplin. The two played seasick tourists on an excursion boat. She worked with all the funny men of the day, including Harry Langdon and Chester Conklin. Later, a heart condition necessitated a loss of 100 pounds, and her movie offers declined along with her weight. She never regained her earlier success. In 1975, London married Hollywood musical director Phil Boutelje, whom she met after both retired to the Motion Picture Country Home at Woodland Hills, California.
